Botox is the most effective treatments for patients with bruxism, migraine, and sinus pain upon chewing. Botox treatment for wrinkles is very effective and safe, but only when performed by a skilled clinician.

You probably know the basics of injections, especially that they're designed to smooth wrinkles. But you might be wondering things like "how much does Botox cost" or "how long does it take for Botox to work"?

Put simply, Botox is a medication injected into muscles in order to temporarily smooth crow's-feet around the eyes and frown lines and other lines on the forehead. It contains a highly purified botulinum-toxin protein.

Your appointment

First Things, First

During your first appointment, a team member will take some time to get to know you and your beauty goals. Then, we will come up with an immediate beauty plan and one for the future. This is one area we take very seriously because everyone has different goals and beauty ideals.

Next we discuss side effects, expectations and after care tips and any questions you may have. A consent and medical history will also be filled out/discussed.

Then we take pictures, numb you up (if plausible) and start the beautification process. procedures usually take 3-20 minutes total depending on the areas treated.

After the procedure, we take some pics and off you go!

Botox PRE - TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

In an ideal situation it is prudent to follow some simple guidelines before treatment that can make all the difference between a fair result or great result, by reducing some possible side effects associated with the injections.  We realize this is not always possible; however, minimizing these risks is always desirable.

  • Patient must be in good health with no active skin infections in the areas to be treated

  • Patient should not be needle phobic

  • Avoid alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment. Alcohol may thin the blood which will increase the risk of bruising.

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory / blood thinning medications ideally, for a period of two (2) weeks before treatment.  Medications and supplements such as Aspirin, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Vioxx, and other NSAIDS are all blood thinning and can increase the risk of bruising/swelling after injections.

  • Schedule treatment appointments at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which may be occurring, i.e., wedding, vacation, etc. etc.  It is not desirable to have a very special event occurring and be bruised from an injection which could have been avoided.

 Botox POST - TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

The guidelines to follow post treatment have been followed for years, and are still employed today to prevent the possible side effect of ptosis (drooping of the eyelids).  These measures should minimize the possibility of ptosis.

  • No straining, heavy lifting, vigorous exercise for 3-4 hours following treatment. It is now known that it takes the toxin approximately 2 hours to bind itself to the nerve to start its work, and because we do not want to increase circulation to that area to wash away the Botox® from where it was injected.

  • Avoid manipulation of the area for 3-4 hours following treatment. (For the same reasons listed above.)  This includes not doing a facial, peel, or microdermabrasion after treatment with Botox®.  A facial, peel, or micro-dermabrasion can be done in the same appointment only if they are done before the Botox®.

  • Facial exercises in the injected areas are recommended for 1-hour following treatment.  This is to stimulate the binding of the toxin only to the localized area.

  • It can take 2 -10 days to take full effect.  It is recommended that the patient contact the office no later than 2 weeks after treatment if desired effect was not achieved and no sooner to give the toxin time to work.

 Dermal Filler PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

A few simple guidelines before your treatment can make a difference between a good result and a fantastic one. Patient should be in good overall health.  A full medical and dental history must be performed on all patients for optimal results.

If you develop a cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. prior to your appointment you must reschedule.

If you have a special event or vacation coming up, schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks in advance.

Let us know if you are prone to cold sores – a preoperative medication may help prevent cold sores after treatment.

  • NO Aspirin, Motrin, Ginkgo Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment.

  • Discontinue Retin-A two (2) days before and two (2) days after treatment.

AVOID: Alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates (you may eat fruit), spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment

Dermal Filler - POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

DO NOT:  touch, press, rub or manipulate the implanted areas for the rest of the day after treatment.  Avoid kissing, puckering and sucking movements for the rest of the day as these motor movements can undesirably displace the implanted dermal filler material. You can cause irritation, sores, and/or problems, and possible scarring if you do.

  • AVOID: Aspirin, Motrin, Ginkgo Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A., Vitamin E, or other essential fatty acids at least 3 days after treatment.

  • AVOID:  Alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates (you may eat fruit), spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours after your treatment.

  • AVOID:  Vigorous exercise and sun and heat exposure for 3 days after treatment.

  • One side may heal faster than the other side.

You can expect some bruising and swelling around the areas that were injected.  Apply ice for the first hour after treatment for ten minutes on and ten minutes off. You must wait 2 weeks before any enhancements.

PDO Threads PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

  • To minimize bruising avoid the following blood thinners ~3 days prior to treatment: baby aspirin, Aleve, Motrin, multivitamins, vitamin E and D, and fish oils – they can cause you to bruise more easily. Note: please consult with your prescribing physician before discontinuing any prescribed baby aspirin or blood thinners. Without clearance from your prescribing physician we will not be able to treat you.

  • Please do not drink alcohol for 7 days prior to the procedure.

  • Please do not smoke 2 days before and 2 weeks after treatment.

  • You are not a candidate for MINT Threads if you:

    • are pregnant or breastfeeding

    • are allergic to any of its ingredients

    • have acute illness or autoimmune deficiencies

    • have a bleeding disorder

    • have keloid or hypertrophic scarring

  • Do not schedule any dental work, including cleanings, 2 weeks prior to treatment.

  • We always recommend using sunscreen to protect your skin as we will not perform the treatment on sunburnt skin. Please use care when in the sun and in the days prior to your appointment.

  • It’s important not to have a bacterial or fungal infection, or an abrasion in the desired treatment area as it can spread after injection. Always inform your clinician of all medications you may be taking, as well as any changes in your medical history.

  • Go back to everyday life

  • Apply a cool compress ( in 30-minute increments over the first 24 hours to reduce swelling. Please be aware that using ice on newly injected skin, or thin and fragile skin, frostbite can occur from ice left on the skin too long. Note: do not ice over the entry point.

  • Sleep on your back (if possible) for the next 3-5 days to prevent movement of threads.

  • Return to your skin care program after 24 hours.

DO NOT

  • Do not massage the treatment area or receive a deep facial massage for the next month.

  • Do not pick at the tiny scab that will form at the entry point over the next few days.  If it itches, hydrogen peroxide on a Q-tip may be gently applied to the site
